My research focuses on the methodological foundations, theory, and fairness in machine learning. I am interested in developing frameworks for algorithmic assessment, providing rigorous guarantees for algorithmic performance, and understanding and mitigating the disparate impact of machine learning.
I am currently a postdoc at Microsoft Research, New England. Before moving to Microsoft in 2018, I completed my Ph.D at UC Berkeley with Michael Jordan and Benjamin Recht on optimization algorithms and dynamical systems. Before that, I studied applied mathematics and minored in philosophy at Harvard University. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, laughing with friends, and taking long walks.
